    Music

It's funny how it can change the mood of any given time. Music has the power to motivate people dramatically. Bodybuilders and runners alike listen to music to get that extra push in the work out. It has lots of therapeutic effects also. Not to just the listener but the artist as well. Looking at today's music where it is filled with pure garbage, it's hard to see and find the good stuff. It's filled with i slept with ur girl and ur momma nonsense that it's gotten to the point where when they come out with another album, it sounds EXACTLY the same.

Kanye West. one of my favorite artists not because his music is played everywhere from the NBA commercials to ipods of people EVERYWHERE but because he has guts. He has a lot of courage as an artist to put out what he thinks is a good representation of his work. Yes he is a rapper. Rappers are given this mask that they wear baggy jeans big tee shirts drive nice cars and have a aura of just being different from normal. Kanye is very different. He tried something VERY different from what he normally did. He sang on his whole CD. A rapper singing and not just spitting out words of nonsense like how he smoked so much weed and got drunk on some cheap liquor. I found that the CD was good for about a week and it got a little annoying after a while. However, I didn't lose an ounce of respect for his music. As an artist and as people, we change. He tried something new. I wouldn't say it was his best work but it was good. But again. His whole album was about heartbreak and lost love. I found that more important than the quality of his singing. Music is a form of art. Art is there for us to express ourselves. If Kanye finds that singing is his way to express himself, im always going to be a fan.

John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson. These guys are awesome. They write songs that sound amazing. Jack Johnson has this voice that makes you feel like your at some small cafe with a couple friends talking and the guy's on his guitar singing a song that's just so smooth. Jason Mraz in my opinion is a frank sinatra with a couple keys higher. He just sings so smoothly as well. He and Jack Johnson both have this quality. John Mayer is amazing. He sings with so much passion and hear that it's so genuine and it's hard not to like it. I find myslef pressing previous all the time and listening to his songs over and over again. I loved the collaboration work between him and Kanye West. That was a good song.

Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi. ALL THESE GUYS AND THEIR ORCHESTRAL FRIENDS ARE GENIUSES. CLASSICAL MUSIC IS THE ROOT OF OUR MUSIC TODAY. HARMONIES, MELODIES, SHARPS, AND FLATS WERE NOTHING BEFORE THESE GUYS.

I love my music and my ipod. i love all kinds of music. music is one of the many things that keep me sane. I find myself constantly trying to write songs and it never sounds close to what these guys did. ladies not putting you down but these guys are stinkin amazing. Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, you guys are crazy good singers also. Man never thought i could write so much about music.

  • ipod moment of clarity

So today as i was walking to class listening to my iPod and i found myself skipping songs nonstop. So i came to the conclusion that i didn't like any of the songs on the playlist because all the songs got old and i got sick of them. The funny thing is whenever i come to this conclusion, i just put my iPod on shuffle and listen to it all. My ultimate conclusion was that praise songs never get old no matter how many times you hear it. Playing it is a different story. But it's amazing to see God work through little things in my everyday life.

  • Major...

Ok so im thinking of changing my major soon. I honestly am SO split because I can't decide what i want to do for the rest of my life. I want to do journalism but i have no idea if i'd be good at it. I also want to do performing arts/music/theatre. So i have sooo many decisions to make but i really really want to do the things above. I'm starting to lean towards journalism. WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!?!?! i'm thinking of doing journalism...

  • λΉ„

I had to change the name cuz my fellow brother Terrance wrote an entry titled that too so I decided to change the name a little bit. Recently in Southern California there's been a LOT of rain. It was so funny because I give myself 10 mins of tv time in the morning to catch up on news and on CNN this lady was talking about a drought so i thought hey hot weather so i wore shorts and a t shirt and leave the dorm and itz POURING! Thought that would bring some comic relief to some people who are a little down this week just because of whatever it may be. So rain. It's funny how much i love the rain. I love the rain because it finally ended the dry windy period that carried SO MANY allergens that made my body feel like it was covered in hives, O WAIT IT WAS! UGH i hate cats and whatever im allergic to that i haven't figured out. So the rain cleared up my allergies for a little bit and i thought about how refreshing the rain is. The air smells so clean during and a little bit after the rain. Isn't it so refreshing to get things off your chest? Today i got to just let it all out and it felt so good. I was having a little bit of a problem and i had the whole dorm to myself because all my roommates had left for their early classes so i was able to have a good hour listening to my hillsongs and chris tomlin and the desperation band and planetshakers. I put those guys on blast and just prayed for literally an HOUR! Itz been a LONG time since i prayed for an hour but it felt SO good. It was amazing to see how refreshed i was and my aspect of my day was COMPLETELY changed. I was helping people out like the guy that fell off his skateboard. Man but it was awesome. Just like the rain, God was able to come down all the way down to a dump of a world like ours and touch my heart and lift my burdens. Can't wait to practice for the revival =]
    God bless~
    power and honor~
